Consumers with new handsets like the Apple iPhone 3G or BlackBerry Curve 8900 may welcome an announcement this week that aims to bring a unified lifestyle solution to their devices.
Some of the latest applications to be announced by Yahoo! via its official blog include facilities for helping to manage your portfolio of photographs, as well as money, news and even fantasy football.
The web-based company invited people to recall a time when the latest mobile phones were used for the sole purpose of making voice calls and said it is now difficult to believe that so much can now be controlled by a single device which is the “size of a deck of cards”.
It went on to say that modern developments in portable technology mean that business and leisure can now be more easily tied together in one gadget and its new range of software downloads are testament to this.
Yahoo! confirmed its branded Finance, Fantasy Football and Flickr options would now be available to download for the Apple iPhone and iPod touch, as well as a selection of BlackBerry devices.
“It’s all part of our effort to help you stay connected,” the company explained.
The group went on to say that with Yahoo! Finance, users can “stay on top of the market, your portfolio and the latest news, research, and analysis with powerful interactivity”, while the Fantasy Football app “ensures that when you’re away from your computer or TV, you’ll still be in the know”.
By incorporating the Flickr photo-sharing facility into the new package, it was advised sharing images and videos was now easier than ever.
Yahoo! recently announced some of its services would be available in Arabic for the first time.
