A new entry in the Research in Motion (RIM) line of mobile phones has been described as “incredibly approachable” by its creators.
The manufacturer was commenting on the recent US launch of the BlackBerry 8520 device and explained that in addition to a number of facilities already familiar to users of the brand, it offered a selection of tempting options.
One area that was highlighted was the device’s compatibility with a host of messaging features – which do not just include email and text options, but also easy access to social networking websites such as Facebook and MySpace.
In addition, RIM explained that as its range of BlackBerry smartphones are fitted with a full qwerty keyboard, they are designed with fast, text-based communication in mind.
Wi-Fi connectivity, a touch-sensitive optical trackpad and dedicated media keys were some of the other facilities that were noted and the company’s vice-president of product management Carlo Chiarello commented that users may also be impressed with how simple and practical the gadget is.
“More and more cell phone users are choosing to upgrade to a smartphone and the new BlackBerry Curve 8520 will undoubtedly convince many more people to make the switch,” he concluded.
The handset will join others in the range that includes the Pearl and the touchscreen-enabled Storm – which is exclusive to the Vodafone network in the UK.
Stars including Rihanna, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton and Jennifer Aniston are among those who have been snapped with their own RIM handset by Celebrity BlackBerry Sightings.
