Those who like to surf the internet with their Nokia N97, BlackBerry Storm or Samsung Tocco Ultra Edition, might be more likely to do so with the Opera Mini web browser, if a new study is to be believed.
It was announced this week that the facility has now passed 25 million downloads, which one of the websites hosting the application said makes it the most accessed handset software on any app store.
GetJar, one such site that claims to be the largest to boast an independent status, explained the Mini browser has been a popular choice with its users.
In addition Opera Software’s chief strategy officer Rolf Assev said the relationship the firm has with the online outlet has played a big part in the widget’s success.
“It proves that our vision of providing a browser that works on almost all phones will give millions a better way to access the web,” he concluded.
Also this week, a report published by analysts at Opera revealed the level of mobile internet access being enjoyed by its software users reached 29.1 million last month, with more than 12 billion page visits recorded as part of the study.
This represents a 15.4 per cent rise on June and a 223 per cent jump in comparison to the same month in 2008.
Jon von Tetzchner, chief executive officer for Opera, said: “If we want the web to be available to everyone, we need a solution that can work on almost every phone.”
Opera recently launched the latest beta version of its PC and laptop-focused browsing system.
