Details have emerged regarding the latest addition to one Taiwanese mobile phone manufacturer’s range that may interest those in the market for a new handset.
It has been confirmed the HTC HD2 is now being shipped to retailers across Europe and Asia, ahead of its arrival in the United States in the early part of next year.
The company has also taken the opportunity to explain what potential buyers can expect from the new Microsoft-based smartphone, noting it will be another to make full use of the Windows Mobile 6.5 platform.
It was noted by HTC Corporation chief executive officer Peter Chou that the upcoming Vodafone device was the result of a close collaboration with its software partner in developing a gadget that would compliment the revised system.
This was something he added allowed the partnership to focus on making the user experience as smooth as possible, including the way in which the HD2 can now be more easily personalised to the needs of the individual.
Commenting, Microsoft chief executive officer Steve Ballmer said it was his belief that the model would soon be adored by many.
"The HTC HD2 shows what’s possible through our close partnership with HTC and it breaks new ground for Windows phones by delivering a beautiful multi-touch screen that people will love," he added.
In addition, the smartphone is equipped with easy access to Facebook, email and Twitter – thanks to a new service entitled Peep.
This week, Mobile Burn’s Russell Jefferies tested out the HTC Touch2 and noted that in addition to a host of "respectable" features, the gadget is a "pocketable" choice that should be on the consideration list of anyone looking for a Windows Mobile handset.
