HTC Legend gets 5-star treatmentThe HTC Legend has been crowned king of the Android handsets by gadget website T3.com.

Writing for the site, Hannah Bouckley explained she had been mad with excitement waiting for the successor to HTC’s acclaimed Hero device to rear its head.

And apparently it doesn’t disappoint.

Ms Bouckley said the smartphone has benefited from big changes made by the manufacturer and as a result is “a handset you’d be proud to show off”.

Features such as the “fantastic” build – complete with rubberised battery SD card cover and camera section – and an optical joystick strike you immediately, while processor upgrades, slick interface and fluid usability all make a great first impression.

What’s more, browsing the web is set to excite mobile broadband users with its ease she suggested, adding that pages load quickly and clearly.

“The Legend is exactly the type of product we’d expect if Apple were to transfer its unibody laptop design to a handset,” Ms Bouckley asserted before concluding emphatically: “The HTC Legend is the best Android handset available.”

Wow, high praise indeed.

But no surprise at all for me – after all, people have been rolling out rave reviews for the last month.

The question is, however, will it be able to unseat Apple’s iPhone at the top of the smartphone leaderboard?

I personally think that while HTC are obviously making some great phones, brand awareness is what this will come down to.

Do people really know enough about HTC to opt for the Hero or Legend over the iPhone?

We’ll soon find out, I guess.
