There are a number of options available to consumers looking to upgrade their old phones and get one of the latest models, but what if the device you are after does not require the various whistles and bells that feature on modern mobiles?

Although gadgets like the Apple iPhone 3G S and Toshiba TG01 offer touchscreen technology and the HTC Magic and Hero have access to the Google Android operating system, one device that is a little simpler is the Nokia 6700 Classic.

In an article for Trusted Reviews this week, the handset is put to the test – with the writer highlighting the basic approach the Finnish manufacturer has taken to it.

According to the site, there is “nothing fancy” about the Nokia 6700 Classic although it does add users may be impressed with what features and facilities it does include.

These include support for GPS and HDSPA technology for up to 10 Mbps, although it does say that the Opera Mini web browser does suffer from being viewed on the 6700’s small screen.

Storing music should be no problem, as the review continues that there is “quite a bit” of space for keeping files onboard and in conclusion the mobile is given eight out of ten for its design and scores seven for its features and usability.

Tech Radar’s Gareth Beavis recently tested the model, advising: “For the person who wants a decent phone at a reasonable price […] they should seriously take a good hard look at the Nokia 6700 Classic.”
