The user interface (UI) featured on the LG KM900 Arena has been singled out as one of the most innovative new software products at an industry event this week.
It has emerged that the South Korean manufacturer was selected as the winner of the Gold Award in the Product Interfaces category at the iF Design Communication honours for its 3D S-Class system.
The judges looked at a number of graphic UI technologies and based their decision on innovation as well as devices that could offer functionality, convenience and aesthetically-pleasing interaction.
From a total of 1,368 entries, the LG KM900 Arena system was selected and a spokesman for the company has since commented on the accolade.
Dr Skott Ahn, president and chief executive officer of the group’s mobile communications division said it welcomed the award from what is a “prestigious organisation” and would endeavour to live up to the title in its future projects.
“LG has once again proven its design expertise and innovation not only in physical appearance but also in user interface [… and] will continue to lead with products that enhance the user experience,” he added.
Since the introduction of the Arena earlier this year, the South Korean firm has added a number of other flagship devices to its range and has fitted them with the 3D S-Class UI. The Viewty Smart GC900, GM730 and GD900 Crystal all now have tailored versions of the system onboard.
Other handsets in the manufacturer’s range include the Cookie – which is available in a wide selection of colours.
