A number of announcements have been made regarding LG’s range of mobile phones, including the latest entry into the South Korean manufacturer’s Black Label Series.
One device the company is expecting to be popular, based on the number of people who opted to buy its predecessor, is the new LG Chocolate BL40 – which the firm took the opportunity to detail this week.
The gadget is expected to be available soon at high street retailers and boasts a four-inch screen that uses a 21:9 aspect ratio – the same format used for most DVD and Blu-ray movie releases.
In addition, 7.2 HSDPA facilities mean faster web connectivity, while a Dual Screen user interface allows two different types of content to be displayed simultaneously.
“Like its predecessor, we are confident that the new Chocolate will create its own legacy and further enhance our standing in the market,” explained John Barton, sales and marketing director of LG Mobile in the UK and Ireland.
LG also announced it would be taking on the smartphone market with three new models, all of which use Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system.
Two of the handsets will offer a full qwerty keyboard – which could put them up against the latest devices from BlackBerry – and the third will be a touchscreen affair.
Dr Skott Ahn, president and chief executive officer of the firm’s mobile division, commented: “This initial launch is a strong testament that LG is committed to offering a spectrum of choices for our broad range of customers.”
Finally, Vodafone revealed this week it would be the first network to provide the new LG GM750 when it goes on sale in October. The model will be a network exclusive until the end of December.
