A new handset has been launched that is noted by its manufacturer to offer the kind of simplicity and touchscreen functionality that a large section of the market has been crying out for.
It was advised the LG GD510 – which is to also go by the name Pop – will fit perfectly alongside higher-end models like the Chocolate BL40 that was launched earlier this month.
The device boasts a three-inch touch-enabled front screen that is in line with the company’s heritage for innovation, it was explained, adding that it could be seen as the mobile to follow models like the Prada Phone and Cookie KP500.
With the latter’s affordability cited as one of the reasons it has so far been able to sell around seven million units worldwide, LG added it was hoped the GD510 would be able to tempt the same type of buyer.
However, company president and chief executive officer Dr Skott Ahn explained that this did not mean the Pop was a handset that pulled any punches when it comes to technology.
"The LG GD510 delivers all the essentials in communication, multimedia and entertainment and comes in a compact form factor as well," he said.
In addition, Dr Ahn noted the user-friendly nature of the model would offer extra appeal, concluding: "We gave the LG GD510 an optimised feature set which allowed us to concentrate on making the phone more compact and simpler to use."
The Pop is not only described as "fully fluent in multimedia", it boasts 8 GB of internal memory, a three-megapixel camera and a brushed aluminium finish.
Also this week, the manufacturer announced a more affordable alternative to the LG Chocolate BL40, the BL20.
