LG KM900 Arena owners may be interested to hear that the manufacturer of their device has announced a new event that will test their skills across a number of areas.

The firm has this week revealed details of the LG Mobile World Cup, which it hopes will encourage users to make the most of their mobile’s various multimedia facilities.

According to the South Korean firm, which also manufacturers a range of DVD players, LCD TV panels and other consumer electronics, the initiative will include a pop art competition, photography contest and star-studded gala concert.

In addition, the event will culminate in a US-based World Championship climax to find the fastest text message writer in the world.

President and chief executive officer of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company Dr Skott Ahn commented that the launch would allow the many popular features of the latest mobiles to be put to the test.

“LG wants to highlight how modern mobile phones are helping enrich people’s lives and [the] Mobile World Cup allows us to do that and have fun at the same time,” he added.

In other news, the company announced the launch of the LG Application Store this week, explaining that it will be rolled out across a number of global markets in a beta testing version at first.

The Viewty Smart and Cookie creators also said that by the end of the year, visitors to the online resource could expect to have access to up to 2,000 downloadable gadgets.
