LG has discussed the success of one of its most popular multimedia-focused models after the device attained a milestone figure for global sales this week.
The South Korean manufacturer advised the KM900 Arena, which was cited by some as a real contender for taking on the Apple iPhone 3G on its release, has now shifted over a million units worldwide.
It was noted that the gadget had been able to achieve this in the five months since it was released and following some of the good buzz generated by its unveiling at the 2009 Mobile World Congress.
Unveiled as the European Imaging and Sound Association’s Green Mobile Phone 2009/10 recently, the model offers a five-megapixel camera, integrated media player, full touchscreen interface and 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and HSDPA support.
The LG KM900 Arena is available in silver, black, grey, baby pink and aqua blue and its creators went on to say the handset has also contributed to its recent sales growth across Europe.
As a whole, the group has seen five million units purchased from its range across the continent during the second quarter of 2009 – a rise of 35 per cent on the same period in 2008.
Dr Skott Ahn, president and chief executive officer for the manufacturer, said: “We will keep going out of our way to gain their insights and reflect their needs in our products.”
Stuff magazine recently looked at the new LG GD910 Watch Phone, stating it could prove to be “the must-have gadget of 2009″.
