The LG Arena KM900 has been a big success – thanks in part to its innovative award-winning user interface (UI), the manufacturer has said this week.
According to the South Korean company, the device has performed extremely well and was able to generate over a million pre-order registrations when it was announced in March this year.
LG also noted the Arena shifted an estimated 300,000 units across Europe in the first month of it being on sale, due to the “strong word-of-mouth” the gadget received.
It was suggested the continued popularity of the multimedia touchscreen smartphone could also be attributed to the inclusion of the firm’s own 3D S-Class UI – which has been incorporated into a number of other models since, such as the Viewty Smart and GD900 Crystal.
Jeremy Newing, head of marketing at the firm in the UK, said the software was not only rapid and dynamic – it was also able to provide a “sense of fun and interaction not found on any other mobile platform”.
The 3D S-Class UI system was singled out for praise at the iF Communication Design Awards last month, where it won a gold standard in the Product Interface category.
As such, LG is now giving prospective gadget buyers a chance to test the product via a special website where visitors can download a desktop application that emulates how it works.
“We have had a great response to the S-Class UI to-date and wanted the experience of the interface to be available to everyone, which is why we’ve developed this … simulation,” Mr Newing concluded.
