The announcement of the Motorola MOTOBLUR heralds the arrival of a handset that is able to combine some of the most up to date social networking functions with a much sought-after operating system (OS), it has been claimed.
Unveiled this week, the manufacturer has stated those who opt to buy the new phone can expect easy access to online portals like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace – all via the Google Android OS.
It was also noted the MOTOBLUR represents “the first and only solution” of its kind that is able to sync and collate contacts, messages and other shared media from these facilities, alongside a host of email options.
“Content is fed into easy-to-manage streams allowing you to spend less time managing your life and more time living it,” Motorola advised.
In addition to web facilities that include 3G and Wi-Fi, a five-megapixel camera is onboard the handset, as is easy access to YouTube, a standard 3.5 mm headset jack and support for LastFM web radio.
Sanjay Jha, chief executive officer of Motorola’s mobile devices division, said during a keynote speech unveiling the device at the GigaOM Mobilize ‘09 conference that the phone would take the Google Android framework and improve the experience for users.
“MOTOBLUR, which will be available on our first Android-powered device and on multiple Android devices in our upcoming portfolio, helps us to create phones that are instinctive, social and smart,” he added.
Samsung also confirmed this week that the Galaxy – its first mobile to carry the Google OS in the UK – would be available to O2 customers.
