Last week a new consumer mobile phones website launched and we like it a lot! Recombu was launched with Andrew Lim at the helm (Andrew was previously the mobile editor for CNET UK) and primarily provides mobile phone reviews and news in an easy to read format and style.
Andrew realised that people read reviews because they want to buy a phone, but few sites offer a comprehensive online solution. Recombu is a portmanteau of the words ‘read’, ‘compare’ and ‘buy’, and the site aims to help phone buyers with all three. Each section of the site is designed to make it simple for users to get the information they need and then act on it. “We wanted to create a straightforward site that offered real value to people looking for a mobile phone,” says Andrew.
Recombu doesn’t just stop at providing excellent mobile content (if you don’t already follow them on Twitter you should do http://twitter.com/recombu) but has a comprehensive mobile phone deals engine that allows you to search for the best deals on most of the current phones. It looks like they just amalgamate data from the main mobile networks and a lot of the resellers (e2save, dialaphone etc) but it does provide a pretty comprehensive list of available deals and is updated daily.
The site is still quite new and I’m sure will grow over time, but the content that has gone up so far looks great and we can’t wait to see more.
