Nokia 3110 creator 'the greenest in the world'Those looking for a new mobile phone that has been produced with the environment in mind may want to take onboard the results of a report published this week.

It has emerged that Nokia has been unveiled as the world’s most sustainable technology company in an annual survey put together by analysts at Dow Jones, toppling a number of its fiercest rivals.

The Finnish handset manufacturer, which currently has devices like the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, E71 and N97 among its range of gadgets, was also given the title of World Technology Supersector Leader by the organisation.

Rick Simonson, executive vice-president and chief financial officer of Nokia explained that the award was something the firm could be proud of as it was indicative of its focus on producing the greenest options for consumers.

"We remain committed to action in this area because acting responsibly is not only the right thing to do – it is also undoubtedly the best thing for our business," he added.

Among the green moves that the company has undertaken of late include the reduction of packaging materials, as well as improvements to energy efficiency and recycling practices.

The firm is also able to boast models like the Nokia 3110 Evolve among its range, which is 80 per cent built from reusable parts and designed to use as little power as possible.

In other news, a recent article for Mobile Burn looked at Samsung’s latest device to boast a selection of eco-friendly credentials – the M560 Reclaim.

Despite being partially composed of bio-plastics, it was noted that the handset was "sturdy in all respects" and with a slide-out qwerty keyboard, 3.5mm headphone socket, microSD support, 2.4-inch display and a two-megapixel camera there were many features to attract buyers.
