Nokia claims it has been able to marry functionality with the latest in fashionable design with a new device it has unveiled at an industry event this week.
The Finnish manufacturer took the opportunity to announce three devices at a recent conference – the Nokia E72, 5530 XpressMusic and the 3710 Fold – and noted the latter could appeal to the style-conscious.
Equipped with a 3.2-megapixel camera, micro SD card support for up to 8 GB, access to the company’s Ovi services, internal GPS and a customisable user interface, the handset is expected to be available later in the year.
However, the firm was keen to point to the design of the Nokia 3710 Fold as one of the main reasons it was “expected to find its way to pockets and handbags in the fourth quarter of 2009″.
Markku Suomi, vice-president of Connect devices at the organisation, echoed the sentiments and said the model was likely to address the “solid demand” in the market for mobiles that look the part and offer simple functionality.
“The Nokia 3710 Fold packs in a renewed, but instantly familiar user interface that makes the appealing array of features enjoyable to use – offering great value for money,” he explained.
Last month it was announced that the manufacturer would team up with Vodafone as part of an exclusive deal to bring the Nokia 6730 Classic to users of the network.
The handset uses the latest Symbian S60 operating system and was called “a perfect upgrade for Nokia 6500c or 6300 users” by the carrier’s head of global accounting Gustavo Eichelmann.
