Those in the market for a new handset that boasts an innovative new may to keep in touch with others via text messaging, email and social networking may appreciate the layout of the Nokia E55, it has been advised.
In an article for Cnet this week, Frank Lewis explained that the Finnish manufacturer has succeeded in creating a device that takes a fresh look at keyboard layout.
He said that the system differs to many of its other smartphone cousins like the BlackBerry or those based on Windows Mobile platforms, but added that with a little practice, users will find it "works surprisingly well".
"It’s not just the E55’s keypad that impresses, though. It’s also amazingly slim for a smart phone, has very long battery life and offers good messaging features, making it easy to recommend," he added.
Other areas where the device was highlighted included Nokia’s inclusion of the Series 60 3rd Edition operating system, which makes it an "instantly familiar" user experience.
This system also offers a homescreen that allows profiles to be changed quickly between work and leisure settings.
Nokia’s E55 not only boasts an innovative new keypad, it is also equipped with a 2.4-inch 320 x 240 pixel resolution QVGA screen capable of 16 million colours, while USB support, MicroSD facilities for up to 16 GB and a 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording and digital zoom is also on board.
The Finnish firm announced this week that it had acquired a privately-held mobile service provider for international travellers named Dopplr Oy.
