The Nokia E72 is a smartphone that can be summed up in three words according to its creators – “swift, slim and resourceful”.
Unveiled at the manufacturer’s Nokia Connection event in Singapore this week, the device is one of three new models that will be brought to the market in the third quarter of 2009.
The Finnish company stated that the idea of the new phone is to provide a professional handset that offers fast access to a host of web-based messaging services while building on the success of its predecessor – the Nokia E71.
Equipped with a full qwerty keyboard, the E72 boasts a feature set that includes simple connectivity to text and chat facilities from the likes of Yahoo! Google and Ovi – and it is suggested this makes it “the ideal device for people that want to be productive in both their personal and professional lives”.
Also onboard the new Eseries model is a five-megapixel camera, 3.5 mm headphone jack, support for Mail for Exchange and IBM Lotus Notes Traveler, as well as access to Microsoft Office.
Ilari Nurmi, vice-president of Nokia, said elements of the E71 had been taken to the table when putting together its successor, but more had been done to ensure the phone offered even more this time.
“So we included the desktop-like email experience from the Nokia E75 and gave it a new optical navigation key for more intuitive scrolling through menus, emails and fast panning of images. We also upgraded the camera,” he added.
This month sees the launch of the latest Nseries device in the company’s range – the Nokia N97, which are you looking forward to the most?
