Nokia has unveiled the new Nokia N8, which it hopes will be able to compete with smartphone heavyweights such as the Apple iPhone and BlackBerry.
According to the brand – whose devices are used by 1.2 billion people around the world – its Symbian 3-powered phone will be available to gadget lovers in “selected markets” in the third quarter of this year and it certainly seems like it has a number of top features that could see it shake up the smartphone world.
It will have an awesome 12-megapixel camera for starters, which could leave photography fans shaking with excitement – especially given it includes Carl Zeiss optics and a Xenon flash.
What’s more, the handset has the ability to make HD-quality videos and edit them too, with its built-in editing suite.
Sounds good to me.
The company adds: “The Nokia N8 enables access to Web TV services that deliver programs, news and entertainment from channels like CNN, E! Entertainment, Paramount and National Geographic.”
In addition, the manufacturer stated social media – as with many new phones being released at the moment – will be a focal point of the N8.
“People can update their status, share location and photos and view live feeds from Facebook and Twitter in a single app directly on the home screen. Calendar events from social networks can also be transferred to the device calendar,” it stated.
So, how does all this sound to you?
Is this the device that will challenge the Apple iPhone and BlackBerry?
