O2 and Dell have joined forces to introduce the Dell Streak, exclusively to the O2 network.

The handset will hit the shops in early June and will include 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and a five-mega pixel auto focus camera.

It will also have a five-inch touch screen, expandable memory and feature the Google Android operating system.

O2 has described the Dell Streak as a “sweet spot between traditional smartphones and larger-screen tablets”.

So for those of us who can’t quite make up our mind whether we prefer a traditional laptop or a mobile phone that does everything, this could provide the answer!

Steve Alder, O2’s general manager of devices, said: “The Dell Streak is a bold new class of product, something we wanted to bring our customers first.”

Ron Garriques, president of Dell Communication Solutions Group, added: “Its unique size provides new ways to enjoy, connect and navigate their lives.”

Although it is not yet confirmed how much the Dell Streak will cost or what tariff it will be available on, it is considered by O2 to be a device that will help make our lives a little bit easier.

I won’t say no to that, if only it could cut the grass and take out the bins too!

An O2 guru service will be provided in stores and smartphone specialists in customer service will also be on hand to help us fully understand how to use the latest devices.

The company has recently announced that it will be launching the Palm Pre Plus and Palm Pixi Plus to its network on May 28th.

They will have slider keyboards, high-performance processors and large touch screens.
