Orange has announced it will be the exclusive distributor in the UK for one of Motorola’s most recently announced mobile phones – which incorporates a new technology designed to improve usability.

Last week, the manufacturer revealed details of a device that would not only be its first to come equipped with the Google Android operating system, but would also offer its MOTOBLUR interface.

The Motorola DEXT – which is known in the US under the name of the CLIQ – is claimed to be able to provide a solution for those who like to synchronise their contacts and messages with media files, as well as connectivity to social networking sites.

With fast access to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Gmail, the company explained the MOTOBLUR option was put together help combine a number of different facilities and make them easy-to-manage.

Commenting on its exclusivity on the network in the UK, director of devices at Orange Francois Mahieu stated the DEXT was something that would be a great addition to its line up of future-facing models.

"The device builds on our commitment to bring the latest innovative multimedia handsets to market and fits perfectly with our existing portfolio of products and services – allowing consumers to make the most from their social networks on the mobile," he added.

Motorola’s DEXT is equipped with a slide-out qwerty keyboard, full touchscreen, five-megapixel camera with autofocus, video recording at 24 frames per second, Wi-Fi, 3G and GPS connectivity.

It will be available free on Orange at £34.26 per month as part of a two-year contract that will also feature 900 any network calls and unlimited texts, Maps and internet use.
