Orange clears up 'unlimited' dealsHave you ever entered into a mobile broadband deal offering "unlimited" usage only to find out later that there are restrictions on your use?

If you have, don't worry. My guess is that you are probably not alone.

However, changes are afoot as in a bid to clear up any potential misunderstanding; mobile broadband provider Orange has ditched its unlimited deals in favour of clearly laid out monthly caps.

This could lead to less-confused and therefore happier customers.

The decision comes after a recent mobile internet consumer survey revealed that many customers are in the dark about their fair usage policies and the monthly download limits their deals include.

Mobile broadband customers who are thinking of comparing the market to see what deals are around to suit their usage needs could also be boosted by the news that other providers are following suit.

Both O2 and 3Mobile have also announced that they to are to do away with unlimited tags on their monthly offerings.

Further changes are also on the way after communications regulator Ofcom recently highlighted the fact that line speed information and detail on fair usage were not readily volunteered by any of the mobile broadband providers included in its recent survey.

As such, a new set of measures designed to help mobile broadband customers increase their understanding and seek out better deals are to be introduced next year.

Will a greater understanding of usage polices help you make a better decision when you next look to sign up with a mobile broadband provider?
