The other day you may have noticed that we were distinctly nonplussed by the deals that Vodafone were offering for the iPhone 4.  Well it turns out that Orange have made Vodafone look reasonable by announcing a series of ‘deals’ that only those with enough spare change to buy a private jet can afford.

We’ll start around the average most people most people are prepared to pay for a new phone, around the £30 to £40 pounds per month price mark.  For an 18 month contract at £40 pounds per month the 16 GB iPhone 4 will cost you a whopping £169.  For a 32GB iPhone 4 you have to pay £269.  For a 24 month contract these prices go down as you would expect.  On a 24 month contract at £40 per month a 16GB iPhone 4 will cost you £89 with a 32GB iPhone 4 costing £189.  After reading those prices we think we might have to sell a few organs to get our hands on the latest Apple gadget.

The supplemental stuff that you get with the deals doesn’t seem to be as good as the leaked Vodafone tariffs either.  The £40 per month 18 month tariff only comes with 900 minutes and 500 texts and internet usage is capped at 750MB per month, while Vodafone are said to be offering 1GB.  All in all we expected a bit more from Orange on this but we shall wait to see what Three mobile come up with.  Some iPhone spotify hybrid deal could be worth our hard earned pennies.  But if Three’s deals are as expensive as Orange’s then we may have to go down the organ selling route.
