The firm that recently announced the Samsung Jet, Pixon 12 and new Omnia range has been showered with praise at two separate awards events.

Firstly, the company was named as the winner in the Best Manufacturer category at the Mobile Industry Awards 2009 in London this month, where it was able to beat a number of its rivals.

These included BlackBerry creator Research In Motion, as well as Nokia, HTC, LG and Sony Ericsson.

Mark Mitchinson, vice-president of the South Korean company’s business in the UK and Ireland, said Samsung was “delighted” to have been selected and said the win was a particular triumph thanks to the high regard in which it is held.

“This win helps us further cement our place as an industry leader and innovator. We have an exciting product line up for the year ahead and hope we can continue in the same vein in 2009 and beyond,” he added.

Elsewhere, the group was unveiled as the winner of the Silver Award in the Cyber Lions category of the Cannes Lions Awards 2009 for a recent marketing campaign for the Samsung Omnia.

The video clip involved the unboxing of the device and was a popular part of the online promotional material for the handset – which has since has three new additions to its line up.

Younghee Lee, vice-president of global marketing at Samsung’s mobile communications division, said the video was part of a “consumer-oriented, holistic brand campaign” that had “contributed very much to Omnia’s big success”.
