Two of Samsung’s latest mobile phones have been put to the test in separate reviews this week that could help those in the market for a new or replacement device.
First of all, an article for the Guardian looked at the pros and cons of the South Korean manufacturer’s Samsung Omnia HD i8910 model and drew attention to its onboard operating system (OS).
When combined with the firm’s proprietary TouchWiz interface, it was noted the Symbian S60 fifth edition OS was capable of allowing the model more power than one would expect from such a compact package.
In addition, it was noted the inclusion of a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen that boasts 720p video playback would be something capable of impressing people hunting down a multimedia-focused device.
“The i8910 has a gorgeous screen,” The article concluded, “with fabulous HD-quality graphics.”
Also this week, Gizmodo’s John Herrman paid particular attention to the eight-megapixel camera that featured on the Samsung Omnia HD i8910, noting that it made taking snaps “a rare treat”.
The device is available in the UK via the Orange network, but those looking for something a little more low-spec might be more inclined to give their attention to Flora Graham’s recent study of the Samsung Lucido S7220.
Described as “perfectly adequate” in its look and feel, the expert said it was not an option for those who want all the latest facilities, but in terms of affordability and reliability it could be worth consideration.
“It’s easy to use and not expensive, so if you like your phones traditional and fingerprint-proof, it could still be the choice for you,” Ms Graham concluded.
