Samsung’s touchscreen mobile phones have achieved global popularity, if new sales figures are anything to go by.
The manufacturer announced it has reached its 50 millionth sale of the device, with 40 million being sold this year so far, on top of ten million last year.
Indeed, the firm is expecting to exceed its prediction for this year, which originally stood at 200,000 units.
According to the firm’s executive vice-president and head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications division JK Shin, the combination of ease of use and enhanced user enjoyment is the source of appeal to customers.
Further to this, the phone maker has launched a range of mobiles that are suitable for the lifestyle and appeal of different demographics – something that has helped propel the uptake of the devices, Samsung stated.
One such model is the Star, highlighted by the group as its fastest-selling phone. The F480 and the Corby were other popular versions noted by the manufacturer.
Mr Shin commented: "We’ve seen remarkable growth in full touchscreen mobiles this year as consumers increasingly enjoy the user experience and convenience that these devices put at their finger tips."
He went on to add that Samsung’s contribution to the market has "accelerated the evolution" towards the development of touchscreen mobiles that are available to everyone.
One of the latest editions to Samsung’s range is the Genio, which arrived on the market in September and is aimed at the younger generations.
Available in a range of colours, the device has a curved design, which stands out from the usual form of such phones.
