A new article has looked at one of the latest entries into the Walkman series of music-focused mobile phones and concluded there are a number of features that make it an attractive option for some.
In a piece for Cnet, an online news and review resource for the latest gadgets and handsets, Frank Lewis considered the Sony Ericsson W205 model and said that although it is low on price, the manufacturer has not skimped on the facilities.
One particular point mentioned is the slide action of the device, which is something rare to the budget music-focused mobile. The expert said that although this does not feel in the same league as the firm’s more top end models, it is far from flimsy.
The device is noted as simple to navigate using a menu system that may be familiar to existing Sony Ericsson users and call quality is described as "top-class".
With GPRS, EDGE and Bluetooth connectivity, the web features of the phone are complemented as being "more than adequate", while the lack of 3G is something that should be no surprise to those shopping in this price range.
Some of the negative aspects of the gadget, however, include a small screen and 1.3-megapixel camera that show where the manufacture may have had to cut corners, but when it comes to music the device is solid.
"The Sony Ericsson W205 Walkman has quite obviously been built to a tight budget and, as such, it’s not the type of phone you’re going to flash around down the boozer. Nevertheless, it offers a decent range of features for the price," Mr Lewis concluded.
Other models in the range include the W595 and W995.
