Sony Ericsson has announced that it has integrated Spotify with its Android mobile Xperia X10.
Writing on the brand’s blog, Rikard Skogberg explained the firm has made the special move using Timescape and Mediascape user interfaces.
He stated: “The integration makes Spotify appear as an online music service in Mediascape and songs played through Spotify show up as event tiles in Timescape.”
Sounds good to me – it’s an extremely positive step that mobile phone lovers are increasingly being given the chance to connect to such a great service as Spotify.
Commenting on the news, T3 stated: “At the moment, Sony Ericsson isn’t being forthcoming with any details about when you’ll be able to give this Spotify add-on a go with your X10. Chances are though you’ll need a £10 a month premium account, just as you do when using Spotify on other mobile platforms.”
However, you might actually be able to take advantage of the deal recently struck up between Sony Ericsson and 3UK – if you don’t own the phone already that is.
The two companies have teamed up and are offering customers who want to buy the X10 or Vivaz a two-month subscription to Spotify’s premium service completely free of charge.
Faisal Galaria, global head of business development at Spotify, explained this is a great way of showing people the benefits of a “simple yet powerful” portable music experience.
What do you think of the news?
Will you be connecting to Spotify on your X10?
