Mobile broadband customers across the UK could be encouraged to compare the various deals on offer in order to secure the best value for money.
Those that are thinking about switching providers could be interested in a recently-launched deal from 02.
Announced at the end of last month, and still available, on the market, the provider is offering as £5 monthly deal with no long-term contract.
This could be the perfect tariff for people who need mobile broadband but do not use it enough to warrant paying for long-term deal.
People taking O2 up on its current offer will pay a one-off fee of £19.99 for a dongle and then pay just £5 per month for 30 days use.
This will entitle internet customers to a 500MB data allowance as well as unlimited access to Wi-Fi internet at a number of UK hotspots provided by The Cloud and BT Openzone.
Vishal Khakhar, O2's head of home and broadband marketing, said: "We know that customers want to access the internet more and more and also are looking for shorter contracts.
"By offering this market-leading 30 day rolling contract we are giving customers flexibility without having to top up on pay and go."
The deal comes hot on the heels of the latest Ofcom communications report, which revealed that the UK is increasingly using mobile broadband to access the internet.
According to the report, 14 per cent of UK households now only have mobile broadband as opposed to a fixed internet connection.
The report also showed that 15 per cent of adults in the UK have a mobile broadband connection, while take up of mobile deals among 15 to 24-year-olds increased by eight per cent last year.
