Supermarket giant Tesco have announced today that they are to offer the iPhone 3G and 3GS in Tesco phone shops and online in the UK. This move, which comes just in time for Christmas, further increases the competition between phone companies for iPhone customers.
It’s not clear yet how much the Tesco iPhone will retail for, but given Tesco’s size and power we would expect them to be very competitive. Frustratingly there is no release date as yet but there is a site where you can register your interest. As Tesco’s partner in this venture is O2, consumers can be sure that they will get the same 3G coverage as other iPhone users.
More competition can only be a good thing for consumers who want to buy an iPhone but have previously been put off by the expensive price tag. So, what are you waiting for? If you don’t own an iPhone get to the Tesco site and register your interest in one of the hottest pieces of tech around.
