A number of regular internet users on the south coast of England could be tempted to look into mobile broadband deals following the activities of one leading provider.
Three, the UK mobile phone giant, has announced the completion of £15.5 million worth of work to its network in Hampshire, the Andover Advertiser reported.
The six-month extension means the county is one of the first in the UK to benefit from the work, which aims to "significantly improve" the firms network.
According to the organisation, the extension means coverage of high-speed mobile broadband, data and voice calls will now be improved.
This could inspire a number of people in the area, who are currently using fixed-line services, to compare the range of current mobile broadband deals in order to set up a tariff that could be more convenient and cheaper to run.
Now the work is complete, Three has a total of 580 site across south-Hampshire, which will provide reliable coverage to almost one million people in Southampton and Portsmouth and on the Isle of Wight.
Three engineer Mike Catney, said: "We can now safely say that whether you are sailing at Cowes week or walking around WestQuay shopping centre, Three has got you covered."
The work comes as part of a nationwide project to improve Three's mobile broadband coverage.
It was recently announced that the provider is to invest £38 million in doubling the number of masts it operates in Scotland.
The firm said that by the end of September 2010, it will have 1,400 operational masts north of the border.
