An online technology news resource has posted its top mobile phones of the year this week, with appearances from names including Apple, HTC, Sony Ericsson and T Mobile.
Trusted Reviews divided its best of 2009 into two categories, the first of which focused on the most impressive high-end devices and the second considering which had achieved the most in the entry-level arena.
Coming out on top in the Best Premium Mobile Phone category was the Apple iPhone 3G S – a decision that it was noted was not easy to come to.
It added "if money was no object", iPhone 3G S would win out every time as it was a streamlined version of an already impressive gadget that combines a catalogue of applications with all kinds of multimedia facilities.
"On top of this, there’s the superb web browser, a great email interface, a much improved camera and the lauded App Store, which now boasts over 90,000 apps," the site added.
In second place came the HTC Hero, a Google Android-based smartphone that offered a "compact body and simple layout" helping to make the most of its multi-purpose operating system.
The third place gong went to another model from the same manufacturer, the recently launched HD2, which instead uses the Microsoft Windows Mobile platform.
In the Best Budget Mobile Phone category, the T-Mobile Pulse came out as the winner, once again with its use of Google Android highlighted, while the runner hyphen?up prize went to the Nokia E52.
Finally, music lovers may have been pleased to see the Sony Ericsson W995 in third place as it combined the photographic elements of the Cyber-shot range and tied them together with the firm’s Walkman technology into one "compelling package".
