UK-based mobile broadband customers could be tempted to compare deals currently on offer after on provider announced the launch of a handy new Wi-Fi gadget.
Yesterday (August 23rd) Vodafone announced the launch of the R201, its new Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified mobile Wi-Fi device.
Vodafone claims the offering, which allows five Wi-Fi enabled devices to share content simultaneously, is the first of its kind.
Intent users are interested in acquiring one of the new gadgets will be able to share digital content that is stored on the R201 as well as accessing the web through a Vodafone Mobile Broadband connection.
Huw Medcraft, Vodafone's director of mobile broadband, explained: "The Vodafone R201 Mobile Wi-Fi device enables our customers to take the Wi-Fi connectivity experience they have at home or in the office everywhere with them.
"By adding DLNA compatibility to the device, it becomes much more than a connection to the internet, by enabling users to connect to their other Wi-Fi enabled DLNA devices and wirelessly share and enjoy their digital content, no matter where they are."
Users of the new device will be able to access digital content, such as games, music, videos and photos from five DLNA-compatible devices including smartphones, TV's, radios, laptops, netbooks and various games consoles.
Vodafone confirmed that the device will be available later this year and will come with a "contemporary industrial design".
Describing the device, the firm said the box will feature connectivity information as well as a battery and signal strength indicator.
